I’m not sure how many of you are familiar with Porto’s Bakery, but it is a Cuban bakery/restaurant with three locations around L.A. county and it is wonderful!  The menu has lots of Cuban food, but their specialty is the wonderful pastry selection.  Believe me, it is not uncommon to encounter long lines at any of their locations, but it is well worth it!

Well lucky me, there was a wonderful surprise for me waiting at home…

The sticker on the outside gave it away, but there were a dozen wonderful little cheese rolls inside!  By the way, the cheese inside is a sweetened cream cheese that you can actually see oozing out of a few of them below.  I totally love the cheese rolls, but my favorite pastry has to be their Refugiado’s, a pastry with guava and cheese inside.  Yum!

Also, there were a dozen Dulce de Leche Kisses.  Yum!

Here are a close-up of the little gems.  🙂  They look like Russian tea cookies, but they’re much more moist.

And the Dulce de Leche filling?  Sweet and creamy!

Yes, this isn’t a total review of their menu, but I wanted to point out a few of their specialty items.  Believe me, I’ll be back and I’ll share even more with you soon!

If you ever find yourself in line at Porto’s, I wouldn’t mind if you bought an extra pastry for me.
