Sapporo Sushi (Long Beach, CA)

I needed to grab a quick lunch and with Thanksgiving looming, I had emptied out the refrigerator and was ready to fill it up again with ingredients for our holiday meal.  Before hitting the grocery store, I grabbed a quick meal with my mom (doesn’t everyone need a shopping partner?) at Sapporo Sushi!

I ordered the Japanese Udon, complete with shredded seaweed, fried tofu, and fish ball slices.  It’s the perfect thing for a chilly day, even if it is just chilly for California!  I actually finished the whole thing even though it came in this massive bowl.  🙂

My mom tried her hand at food photography, but the first rule is always lighting!  My shots aren’t that much better, but I will show her soon enough.  🙂

She ordered the Bento Combo with rice, pickled cucumbers, House salad, California roll, beef teriyaki, and mixed tempura.  I helped a little bit with the beef, being the good daughter that I am.

As for my roll, I ordered the Mexican Roll, which had crab meat, cucumber, cilantro, and onion on the inside and spicy tiny, albacore, jalapeño, and spicy soy mustard sauce on the outside.  Fancy!

It was a nice lunch to fuel our shopping and prepping.  There’s nothing more tempting than going to a grocery store hungry!  We’re pretty sure that the whole family will have leftovers over the next week because my mom basically wants us to cook triple the amount we need, in case we need to feed an army.  🙂
