Christy’s on Broadway (Long Beach, CA) (CLOSED)

I totally admit that this is probably one of my worst photographed posts due to light and the fact that we were really just trying to eat and run.  So please excuse the photo fails, if you don’t mind.

I had heard of Christy’s on Broadway for a while but had never been, so we decided to give it a try.

It was cold by my standards (sorry East Coasters who really are going through freezing weather), so I took a terrible picture of the outside.  Here are a couple of pictures that show crazy lights.  A little 1980’s in my opinion.

The menu has different options, but since I am trying to eat a bit healthier, I stayed away from the pasta this time.

Instead, I went with soup and salad.

The burrata on my Heirloom & Burrata salad was hiding under the basil leaves!

For a moment, my dinner partner thought the cheese on the Blue Cheese Salad was gorgonzola.  Um…

Anyways, after our salads we had a bit of time to look around.  The interior is pretty nice, which you can’t tell because it is too dark.  One of my pet peeves of restaurants today is the overly dim lighting.

I mean really, who wants to see beautiful decor and food?  😉

So, I ordered the Tomato and Basil Soup again with the tiniest little burrata dollop.  It was pretty salty, but I am sensitive to overly salted food.

My dinner partner thought it would be funny to order Steak Diane.  I had a couple of slices because it was enormous!  When she said it tasted like liver, she was right.  I’m not sure if that is what Steak Diane used to taste like back in its hey-day, but she enjoyed it.

As you saw from the first picture, we ended with the Chocolate Bread Pudding.

This was easily the most beautifully plated dish, but also just okay.  Everything was fair to good but not strong enough for me to return any time soon, or to go out of my way for dinner.

Still, this will go down as the second time in my life I have tried Steak Diane.  I mentioned it quickly in this post but took no pictures since we were with company.  At least this is in the top 2!

Do you have a dish named after you?
