Lucille’s Smokehouse BBQ (western U.S.)

After our light and lovely brunch at Bouchon, I had a late lunch/early dinner with my mom at Lucille’s Smokehouse BBQ.  Completely the opposite of our brunch!

Lucille’s is a fairly small chain of restaurant located in California, Nevada, and Arizona, specializing in BBQ.  Ready to dig in?  I know I am!

First of all, before you even make your way inside the restaurant, they want to get you in the mood for a country-style experience.

I love the cute design at the take home window.  They want to make it look authentic, even though it is pretty new.  🙂  The inside is just as fun, but I didn’t want to disturb the other diners.  🙂

This is the reason why the barbecue is extra delicious.  These are sitting on the table, ready to be devoured, and you can actually buy bottles to take home!

The lunch specials are smaller portions, which is definitely necessary in a place like this.

The portions are huuuge.  I mean, look at the water!  That’s a liter of liquid just for me, and the sodas, teas, and other beverages are served by the liter too.  🙂

First up, the most amazing biscuits.  They are dusted with sugar and served with a slightly sweet apple butter.  They are not your typical biscuits, but oh-so amazing!  Definitely in my top biscuits, and remember I used to live in Nashville!

A took a quick picture of the area where we were sitting before more people sat down.  It is designed to look like a screened-in porch outside of a house.  Funny, right?

Now, to the food!

Wedge salad

A crisp wedge of iceberg lettuce, smoked bacon, sweet red onions, vine-ripened tomatoes, crumbled blue cheese and your choice of salad dressing

As you can see, the wedge salad is enormous… and only $4.49.  Honestly, dinner salads are usually expensive, and this one is practically large enough to be a meal.  Just look much bleu cheese they heap onto the salad!

Chicken & Tri Tip

One-quarter smoked chicken and Certified Angus Beef tri tip

I ordered the smoked chicken, which I absolutely love.  Even though I am sensitive to when items are overly smoked, this is just delicious.  The chicken is always cooked perfectly!  I decided to order it with some tri tip to try it out.  It tasted a bit like my favorite brisket recipe, and without all of the work!  I ordered a side of vegetables, which was like a corn, zucchini, and pepper medley.  Yum!

BBQ Beef Ribs

Tender, big and meaty beef ribs, spice-rubbed, slowly smoked, then glazed with our BBQ sauce.

Yep, so this is why you come to Lucille’s.  Delicious ribs, plus corn on the cob, and a baked potato.  So amazing!  The waiter knew that we wouldn’t finish the ribs, so he gave us a to-go box right off the bat.   I have never had dessert here for a reason.  🙂  But seriously, this always hits the spot when I have a barbecue craving!
